Diabetic Foot Clinic

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the Diabetic Foot Clinic is to provide comprehensive foot care for all diabetics including nail trimming, corn and callous reduction, management of foot ulcers, and prevention of common diabetic foot disorders.

GOAL:

The goal of the clinic is to use a conservative approach to best meet the individual's needs through:

STAFF:

The Diabetic Foot Clinic insures optimum care through a team approach. It utilizes the expertise of specialists in a wide variety of fields. The staff includes:

  • General Surgeons
  • Nurse Specialists
  • Orthotist

EVALUATION: Evaluation of the patient may include:

  • Doppler Examination
  • Neurological Screening
  • Footwear Assessment and Recommendation
  • Education Regarding Foot Care

TREATMENT:

Treatment consists of a multi-disciplinary approach to
diabetic foot care. Treatment is focused on prevention of
diabetic foot disorders through the use of nail and
callous care, education, proper footwear, and exercises.
Treatment may also address healing of diabetic foot
wounds.

REFERRALS:

  • Nutritional counseling
  • Diabetes Education
  • Diabetes Support Group

INSURANCE:

Diabetic Foot Care services are covered for diabetics by
Medicare, Medicaid, and most insurances.
