Last year, St. John’s Mercy Hospital embarked on a new journey to bring expanded cancer care to the region we serve.

Our Success in Motion
Funds raised through our 2006 campaign have been used to complete accreditation through the Commission on Cancer, a branch of the American College of Surgeons. A three-year process, accreditation is the industry’s “gold standard” for cancer care. Our cancer program will be certified to provide state-of-the-art pre-treatment evaluation, staging, treatment and clinical follow-up for cancer patients. In addition, campaign funds have supported advanced oncology training for nurses and have been designated for a new centralized infusion therapy center at St. John’s Mercy Hospital.

A Renewed Commitment
Thanks to extensive community support, last year’s campaign was a success. But, comprehensive cancer care knows no monetary limits. As this process unfolds, significant resources will be needed to realize the level of care that we will deliver to the community and again, we ask for your renewed commitment.

This Year’s Goal
The St. John’s Mercy Hospital Foundation has dedicated this year’s Annual Giving Campaign to taking our journey to the next level. In conjunction with the David C. Pratt Cancer Center at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, we have set a goal of $85,000 to build upon the blueprint of our cancer services plan.

Where Will the Money Go?
Funds from our 2007 Annual Giving Campaign will continue to support our infusion therapy center project with facility renovation and equipment costs. An infusion therapy center cannot open its doors without the necessary equipment and technology to care for our patients. As good stewards of our resources, we have carefully based our needs on absolute essentials that can grow and expand as we grow and expand.

Currently under construction and located on the first floor of the Mercy Doctors Building, the centralized infusion therapy center will provide patients access to vital intravenous treatments in the most important of locations – close to home. This new center will streamline the process for transfusions of blood cells, platelets and other blood products, as well as administration of intravenous medications, such as antibiotic therapies. Our new center will also make our infusion therapy accessible to patients in need of transfusions for Crohn’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis and more.

Simply put, it’s all for the safety, comfort and health of our patients. The success of this campaign will make us one step closer to providing comprehensive cancer services, close to home.

The Plan is in Place, Now We Need the Tools to Make it Happen
Providing cancer care close to home is a priority of
St. John’s Mercy Hospital, and thanks to the past support of friends like you, our plan is becoming a reality. Will you join us on our journey of bringing cancer care to our region? We hope you will travel with us by making a tax-deductible contribution to the St. John’s Mercy Hospital Annual Giving Campaign for Cancer Care. Meeting and exceeding our goal of $85,000 for this important campaign cannot be left to the efforts of one or two generous donors. We hope every member of our community will embrace cancer care for themselves, for their families, for this region, for years to come. We hope you will consider making a gift. Gifts of all sizes are sincerely appreciated.

St. John’s Mercy Hospital Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that believes in the Hospital we support and knows the importance of partnership. Isn’t it nice to know that supporting our organization in this capacity will in turn support the community for many years to come? Our region needs and deserves a health care facility capable of providing comprehensive cancer care. We thank you in advance for your support in making St. John’s Mercy Hospital a leading health care facility. We hope that St. John’s Mercy Hospital will be part of your charitable giving this year and in the years to come.
